Nation-wide utilities company, kinex, has kindly donated £270 to Lancashire pony farm, Ponies for People, as part of their Community Support Scheme.
Ponies for People General Manager, Christine Thomas said: “Our objective is to provide opportunity and access for marginalised individuals and groups. We want to develop positive mental, behavioural, emotional and physical outcomes for everybody of all ages and ability who come to us.”
Rossendale based, Ponies for People is aimed at raising funding to deliver the therapeutic benefits of horsemanship to a diverse audience. From young people and adults with dementia, learning difficulties and social problems.
The not-for-profit group, which is run by a mother and daughter trio, aims to promote education and wellbeing through working with ponies in an atmosphere of care, trust, respect and friendship.
Children in particular who visit the farm learn a whole range of skills and participate in stable management, grooming and hoof care, feeding, horse behaviour and first aid. As well as an introduction to riding.
On receiving the £270 Community Support Scheme funding, Christine said: “We were delighted that kinex chose us as their recent recipient for funding. Their sponsorship means so much to us and is really appreciated. It will go towards buying new hats for the children ensuring continued safe riding.”
CCO of Verastar, Nicola Smith said: “We’re really pleased to be able to show our support for local initiatives and are proud that the money we’ve donated will help towards the safety of children when riding and learning new skills with the ponies.”
