kinex is not only eager to help Britain’s small businesses with all essential services, we are also keen on supporting community groups and organisations that have played a key role in improving the quality of life for their local community. Through our Community Support Scheme, we regularly grant financial awards to these groups that are striving every day to provide the support needed to their communities.
Recently, we played our part in recognising and rewarding one of these amazing organisations in their unbeatable efforts, the Golden Lion Children’s Trust (GLCT).
Based in Gatwick, the GLCT was founded in 1973 by individuals connected to the local Gatwick airport and is completely self-financing, continually fundraising to support children with special needs, underprivileged youngsters and families from the local area.
As all good things come in small packages, this strong charity supports around 3000 children with special needs, disadvantaged young people and families per year, by running events and activities such as taking groups to sporting venues, live theatre, cinema, science and animal centres, and holding an annual Late Christmas party. This gives these children and young people the chance to have “a little bit of magic in their lives” and an opportunity to enjoy themselves in ways that may not otherwise have been possible.
Golden Lion Children’s Trust came to kinex to access a grant through the Community Support Scheme to help them with transport costs. With the funding of £600, they were able to take some children and their family members- to an afternoon at the London International Horse Show in Olympia, which took place 19th December.
The children enjoyed one of the UK’s biggest show-jumping competition and dressage events. However, the fun didn’t end there. Through the grant, the charity was also able to arrange for a group of children to travel with their families to a Christmas lunch at a local pub on the 8th December. By minibuses, the group also arranged for a set of families to attend the charity’s traditional GLCT Late Christmas party on the 6th of January.
On the trip, chairman of the charity Lynda Guy commented:
‘A huge thank you to you and your colleagues for your support. Your generosity made it possible or GLCT to offer these children and their families a really special pre-Christmas treat’.
