West Sussex Mediation Service provides a range of free mediation services to people suffering conflicts in their lives. Conflicts they help with typically arise from neighbour disputes, conflicts within families, or other situations.
The charity has a team of 60 fully trained volunteer mediators who operate in the communities in which they live around the region, working with people to resolve conflicts and helping to change lives for the better.
Originally set up in 2000 to serve Horsham, the service is in demand and now provides services to more than 3,000 people across West Sussex.
Nick Handley, from the charity, says: “I found the kinex website when I was looking to switch telecoms providers and saw the Community Support Scheme advertised there. I applied online, which was really easy to do. Then we heard we’d been awarded £500, which is great news because we’re a small fish in a big charity pond and it can be hard to compete with bigger charities for donations, which we really rely on. This donation from kinex will fund a training day for our volunteer mediators so that we can help to update and refresh their knowledge and practical skills. They’ll develop their expertise on a variety of topics, so that we can maintain a quality service to the people of West Sussex. Our charity wouldn’t exist without our fantastic volunteer mediators, who give up endless hours of their own time for the good of the community, and the help of companies like kinex.
“Many companies pay lip service to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and have impressive CSR statements on their websites, but the kinex Community Support Scheme is a great example of a company and initiative acts on its commitment to helping communities.”
