FSB announces 2016 Policy Conference

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) recently announced that it will hold its second policy conference in 2016.

Federation of Small Businesses

Established more than 40 years ago, the FSB is the UK’s largest campaign pressure group for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The group’s mission is to help small businesses achieve their ambitions, and offer members a wide range of business-related services, including advice, support and financial expertise, along with a pretty powerful voice in government.

The Federation held it’s first ever policy conference back in 2014. This event brought senior policy makers and thought leaders together to discuss the challenges, as well as opportunities, facing the UK’s over five million-strong small business community.

SME Insider recently reported that the Federation has decided to build on the success of the 2014 conference by doing it all over again. The FSB will hold its 2016 policy conference, ‘Small Business 2020: inspiring growth, innovation and ambition', on Tuesday 2nd February 2016. The event, which will be hosted by leading BBC business presenter Steph McGovern, is scheduled to take place at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, London.

2016 Conference

The conference will bring together FSB members, senior politicians, policymakers and business-community leaders to set the SME policy agenda for the future. The attendees will discuss what can be done to support SMEs; exploring how small companies can benefit from regional expansion, addressing the skills gap and improving access to finance.

The ‘Small Business 2020: inspiring growth, innovation and ambition conference’ will include three high level sessions. These events will focus on ‘growing tomorrow’s entrepreneurs to deliver innovation and competition,’ ‘securing a high-growth global future for small businesses’ and ‘rebalancing the UK economy.’

The Federation of Small Businesses has always fought to protect and promote the interests of the UK’s SME community. The group’s 2016 conference will give FSB members the opportunity engage with people at the highest level of government. This will allow them to ensure that Whitehall promotes policies which help SMEs across the UK to thrive next year.
